For this latest one-day painting I tried out flake white instead of using titanium white.
Flake white dries faster and forms a more stable, permanent layer, but it is also prone to yellow more and is less opaque than titanium white. Overall, I quite liked the drying time, especially when combined with my medium of walnut alkyd. I likely would avoid flake for the top layer of a multi-layered painting if I needed to cover up and get opacity in an area, but otherwise it behaves great.
Just don't eat it.
